Disciple Makers in Training
“As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
WE ARE BACK AT CAMP!!!
This year, the DIT program will return to its original 3 week experience, in person at UB Youth Camps. Hooray!
What if restrictions tighten?
If restrictions in Ontario take a turn towards lockdown, we will shift DIT 2022 to an online format. Similar to 2021, we would operate during the week with Online Sessions with the hope for a Friday evening to Saturday morning in person with our annual canoe day trip.!
What if lockdowns return?
In the event of a return to full lockdown/stay at home order, DIT would shift to a full online experience. The annual canoe day trip would be rescheduled for a later date so that we can all share this experience together.
Who is this for?
People born in 2004, 2005, and 2006 who are growing in their relationship with Jesus.
When is it happening?
Sunday July 24th to the morning of Saturday July 30th. If a return to online is required, the dates will be modified to a 4 day schedule.
Where is it happening?
Hidden Valley Camp at:
452 Bruce-Saugeen Townline,
Is there a cost?
The cost for DIT 2022 will be $500/DIT. This will cover all admin fees, food and accommodations at Hidden Valley Camp.
Note: A $100 deposit is required and will be deducted from the $500 fee. The DIT Leadership Team will work with each DIT to fundraise the remaining $400, along with planning fundraiser events at our local UB Partner Churches.
So, What Will DIT’s do?
This summer, DIT’s will spend one week at Hidden Valley Campground and then two weeks volunteering at UB Youth Camps, also at Hidden Valley Campground. While we know it is hard to commit to a full 3 week tour, we do expect that each DIT will commit to at least one camp volunteer week, either Junior High or Junior.
What does it mean to be a disciple?
This is the very core of the DIT program. Together, we will seek to answer this by turning out attention to the way Jesus lived, conducted his ministry, and called his disciples.
Jesus has called every man and woman of faith to this path.
“Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 18-20 (NIV)
For DIT 2022, DIT’s will explore spiritual practices that have been used by followers of The Way to strengthen their relationship with Jesus, and themselves.
These practices range from simple things, like journaling and reading scripture, to the harder things like an evening of silence and solitude. Each DIT will respond to the practices in their own way, and we will explore these practices together.
12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
For DIT 2022, each evening will include an inductive study of scripture. DIT’s will each take a turn leading one another in this unique method for studying scripture.
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV)
For DIT 2022, we will work with Shiloh and Living Hope UB Partner churches in the Port Elgin area to serve the local community through their outreach initiatives. Each DIT will have a chance to engage with the community in a tangible, faith building way.
12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
John 15:12 (NIV)
In the event that COVID-19 restrictions tighten, or lockdowns return, DIT will return to online learning. We will provide plenty of notice should this be required.
Registration has been extended!
DIT 2022 Registration has been extended to Sunday May 29th, 2022. Registration is open to those born in 2004, 2005 and 2006. If you have any questions about DIT 2022 or the program, please contact us HERE
23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
